Diaries of a Romanticized Life: 5 Habits You Need to Add to Your Routine

This is the first in a series I’m calling Diaries of a Romanticized Life! In this post, I’ll be going over 10 habits that are guaranteed to improve your new days. Each one has been tested by Mwah, and I am working on implementing them myself so we can both grow together!
I’ll be including as much as I can so you can easily get started with these and ways to implement them even when you’re not feeling up to it!
But what if I don’t feel like it?
Starting new habits can be a little hard or maybe even overwhelming if you think about it too much. So don’t overthink it! The easiest way I find to do something is to do it unconsciously or by starting only part of it one step at a time.
When I need to get up to go to the track I think about how much I don’t want to do it but then remember all I have to do is get up out of my bed. Once I’m out of my bed then all I have to do is get in my car and crank it up. At this point, I’m just taking a little drive and since I’ve already driven here I might as well get out and at least begin to walk.
I find this is the best way to think and go about some habits. It’s almost like a domino effect and once you start completing the tiny tasks set out for you you’ll eventually be completing your habit for the day!
Another tip I have is starting to record myself. Pretend like you’re going to make a vlog and start talking about how you’re about to do this certain task. This is about the same effect that happens to me when I’m jogging on the track and I get tired ready to stop but then I see I’m coming close to someone. Of course, I have to keep jogging past and not stop right in front of them. The audience or the imaginative audience can push you more towards your goal as an influence.
You can even try by just telling someone that you’re about to do it. Double points if they’re to check up and see if you did it. As soon as you’ve told them about it it pushes you more to complete it because it’s not only you involved anymore and it’s easier to do it even if you didn’t want to.
I have plenty more helpful tips like this for working on and building habits like this on this post here! For now, though, let’s get into the actual habits!
5 Habits you need to add to your routine
These are all habits that I recommend doing daily but obviously, not everyone has the time to. Some habits may be more important or more appealing to you than others so I suggest making those your priorities if you don’t have enough time in the day!
Starting your morning off right
Your day starts with your morning so making the effort to start it off right will better your day already. This begins with waking up earlier in the morning because it has plenty of benefits for any person. When you wake up earlier you get more out of your day and instantly you’ll feel more productive. You’ll also not have to worry about being late and can start getting ready with more time on your hands.
Once you’ve woken up then you need to immediately get up! Don’t slouch around in bed because it will lead to you spending more time in it than you need. It’s been said that your bed should only be for resting so make sure not to do other activities in it. You don’t want your life to be surrounded by your bed. If there’s something you want to do then find a better place but for now, just make sure you’re getting up as soon as you wake up.
Once you’re up and out of bed then what? Start making a rule to not get on your phone for at least an hour after waking up. Phones have taken over many of our daily lives when it isn’t even needed. Staying off of your phone for at least an hour will give you more time to spend your morning well and free your mind. Those notifications will be okay for another hour of waiting I promise.
Now you can use that new free time to make your bed! Making your bed in the mornings changes so much. Some of you may already do it but if you don’t you need to. I used to always think there wasn’t a good enough reason to make it but once I did I saw there was. Making your bed will immediately improve the look of your room, and make you feel productive and accomplished, and it’s the best way to set yourself up to do more for your day after that!
Having a well-cooked breakfast
Having a nice breakfast is the best way to keep the day going well. You’ve probably heard plenty of times that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Eating breakfast will help give you what you need to go through your day and why wouldn’t you want to pamper yourself with a nice breakfast. You can even deliver it to yourself on a cute tray like a princess.
Breakfast doesn’t have to be just the usual pancakes and eggs though! There are plenty of different options especially if you’re looking for something healthier or better. I plan on making a Breakfast recipe book full of good and easy recipes for you to try soon so if you want to join the newsletter to see when that comes out feel free too! I love finding new recipes that can be made quickly or stored as meal preparation for the next day. I’ll be including plenty of things like that in the recipe book as well!
You should try to have nice cooked meals for every meal though not just breakfast! Fast food isn’t the best for us of course and a home cooked meal is always the better option. So why shouldn’t it also be convenient for you? If you find you don’t have the time then trying meal prep might be the best for you. There are some extremely yummy things and even healthy and nice looking snacks! And of course I’ll be getting some recipes for those as well so just keep a watch out!

Making a routine and preparing for tomorrow
The easiest way to have your day prepared is of course to prepare it the day before. Take a little bit of time to just schedule out the day. Whether you work or not, just plan it out. Maybe you have many hobbies or things you want to do that day. For me it’s been easiest if I literally plan out a certain time frame for each task.
Doing this will make sure you’re staying organized and not getting off track. I suggest a planner whether digital or physical for this. You’ll be able to plan the right amount of time for each thing. This has helped me so many times in actually being productive and not getting side tracked. Don’t plan yourself for too much time though. Make sure you’re giving yourself breaks and giving yourself small rewards for what you’re completing too!
When planning out your day it’s best to give yourself 3 milestones. A physical, mental, and spiritual one. And no, not all spiritual tasks involve praying either if you’re not religious!
You want to do something physical for your body, something to help out your mentality like reading or learning, and something for your spirituality like meditation which can really help your mindset! Plan your day to be successful for your tomorrow self so it’s practically already done for you the next day! And of course follow the plan you’ve set for yourself accordingly.
Practice a hobby
Having a hobby can be great for you in many different ways and you’ll have things to do that you enjoy.
Some hobbies are more productive than others and can even help you with your 3 milestones of the day. And of course some are more romanticized than others so you can really live your aesthetic life.
I suggest trying as many hobbies as you can even if you don’t think you’re going to be interested in them because you really never know.

Budget and finance yourself
If you don’t already have some sort of budget in place then you need one as soon as possible. This coming from a girl who has no option but to budget so I’ve learned a lot in spending the least amount of money possible. I went from working and spending my entire paycheck just about on things I didn’t even need to spending the least possible amount I can and stretching my money.
I’m going to tell you about how I budget myself and even though my way might not be best for you, you should find something that’s still going to be effective.
The first thing I do is I save all of my cash. When I purchase things, like most people, I use my debit card and just swipe whenever I need to buy. This is why I have 3 different places I keep my money and the most important one is keeping cash.
I turn at least 50% of my money into cash and I make sure it is completely off limits unless required. You can go the even more organized way and separate your cash into folders or pouches and things like that.
You can separate the cash into savings such as for house, car emergencies, and other future goals for yourself. I know you’re not going to gain money on it since it’s not in your savings but it keeps you from spending it because it would be a hassle when you have a convenient card instead.
The rest of it is separated into an actual account with savings and checkings. You can split this in half if you would like but make sure you have enough in either account. You can use your cash for saving for certain bills if you’d like but most of us pay online or have autopay so if you do just make sure you’re leaving enough to pay for your bills and still have some left over.
I could go on a lot more about budgeting and such but for now we’ll continue with the rest of this list. Your life will be much easier when you know how stable your finances are and how you’re budgeting so well that you’re saving enough for bigger goals. Just think about every purchase you’re making and think about if this is something you would buy when you ‘re broke and you’ll easily be able to tell if you should leave it or not.
Let me know if you’d like for me to expand more on anything I’ve mentioned and I’ll be sure to give you more content! And always make sure to treat yourself well because you deserve it! Thank you so much for reading and cya in the next one! <3
