Sunspot Moments You Need to Cheer You Up!
Hello or welcome back to the blog!!!! Also, quick disclaimer I am sick and haven’t read over this very much. I finally decided to write about what inspired this blog in the first place. I started this wanting to share my journey through things and what I’m learning to better myself as a person. I hope to reach someone who can relate and maybe even try what I try. I’d love to be able to help someone while trying to just help myself so in this post I’ll be talking about some little things in life I do to cheer myself up. Because to me, it’s the little things that have the largest effect in the worst of times. 🙂
Now I know we all get sad sometimes but I tend to get sad around once a day, funny enough. Usually, random things make me sad but they can lead to me feeling worse. And recently I’ve been returning to the little things to make me happy. I enjoy creative activities, reading, writing, and nature and that’s what I’ll be focusing on in the things list while trying to stay with things that will be beneficial.
So! Let’s begin starting with the creative category. I love crafts and anything art-related and I’ll be including craft ideas in this list but I plan to make craft-only posts in the future as well so don’t worry if that’s what you’re mainly here for. Also, if there’s anything else you want to look forward to such as the crafts you can always sign up for my newsletter and get notified when it’s posted!
Creativities
- Drawing and Illustrating
This is probably one of the most obvious ones but I love drawing super cute things that I enjoy to cheer me up. If you can’t draw too well you can always trace!
The things I like doodling are my favorite anime characters, Sanrio, original characters, cute animals, etc. Just draw your favorite things no matter what it is and then color them!
Coloring books were always so relaxing so you can enjoy coloring the doodle and then you’ll have a finished product that is adorable and you can be proud of! Or the opposite and it’s something you can laugh at but either way, it’s finished!!
After it’s done though if you still feel creative I have some more cute things you can do with it!!
- Turn it into a sticker
- Use it to decorate a surface or something like a phone case
- Gift it to a friend or even a stranger
- Turn it into a standee
There are plenty more things of course but the point is the actual creating part. Taking the time and putting in the effort to create something just relaxes you and it’s enjoyable!
- Custom Stationery
I am one person who loves stationary but I can never find exactly what I want. Also writing this has taught me that the word is “stationery” and not “stationary” so you learn something new every day. This is perfect if you want super cute stationary as well or you want something cute to write on for the next section! There are plenty of different ways you can go about this but this is what I like.
I go onto Pinterest and find super cute ones that I like and I save them and from there I either print them or try making them at home myself. You can go to a nearby library or use someone’s printer, even the school one if you don’t have one.
If you want to make it at home then find a paper that will be good to hold whatever you’re decorating with and also good for actually writing on. One thing I enjoy about creating your own at home is it’s more fun if you feel like crafting and you also have more freedom. You can make some elements of it pop up a little with an extra layer or add elements like dried flowers or glitter. You can do whatever you want really!
I’m including my Pinterest board of memo stationary I use so if you want to save one and print or get ideas you can!

Also when it comes to printing I suggest using something like Canva so you can place multiple together on an A4 size so printing will be easy.
- Creating a Shrine
This task may not be for everyone but I love it myself and I can say that it is easily a serotonin-boosting item. For this one, you will be choosing a person or character that you really love. For example, I would choose Yuri from ddlc as my first thought.
This should be a character/ person you know some things about so you can easily make this. First, you’re going to want to gather what you’ll need such as photos of them or anything including their face, something including their name or initial, maybe a candle that seems to match, cute items to add that match their vibe or colors, items that they would like such as a knife for yuri, and anything else you can think of that would fit them or make the area perfect.
Next is just choosing where to add it. You can have it in broad display on a shelf, under a bed in a shoebox, on a desk or vanity to look at and give you serotonin daily, or just wherever you’d like. Just arrange items in a way that you enjoy and admire your shrine and who it is dedicated to. Who better to cheer you up than your comfort character/ person or even Yuri.
Writing
- Journal Entries
This is probably one of the most helpful little things to do. You can also use any stationery you have for this as well. There are plenty of prompts you can find online if you’d like or just write about your day and how you’re feeling.
I find it best to write about your feelings in case you need to show them to your therapist or your future therapist instead of them asking about you like me you just know what happens with you because you don’t remember and it’s been more than an hour. Or you can simply use it to write out your feelings and do it for fun. Any reason is valid of course.
I love the decorated journal pages with tons of stickers, cutouts, washi tape, and plenty of other random keepsakes to go along with it. This is just my preference though of course and you should decorate to whatever you like best. You could not decorate but taking the time to do it can make you calmer and happier making something you enjoy even if you were just now journaling about something terrible.

Reading
- Read Comforting Literature
I know most people don’t read but I’m here to tell you that you should do it anyway. Personally, my comfort literature is romance slice-of-life manga but there are plenty of other things you can enjoy reading. Reading is almost like a way of coping where you can escape to someone else’s world and enjoy it.
I love picking different locations to read in and just enjoy my book. My favorite places are the park, the bath, a tree, and a library. I find these places to usually be the most calm or even serene and allow me to immerse myself. Reading is a great way to cheer yourself up though because it takes your mind away and focuses it on something different. And if you don’t like anything you’re reading then you can always try Ao3 or write your own story.
- Read Articles
Of course, if you’re already reading this then you know a little something about reading articles and things similar. There are plenty of articles out there that give you something in return. Informational articles will teach you whatever you might be interested in and you might learn something really good. If you don’t like reading too much then you can start with the bite-size ones that are around 5 minutes long.
After reading the article and once you’ve gained the information whether it’s on a problem you needed solved or just an area you wanted to explore, it may even inspire you. Hopefully, you’ve found something just like this that might make you want to go try it or implement it.
They may seem boring until you find something you like but it’s another way to change your mindset and focus. And a great way to just relax. Try reading articles on whatever you are experiencing and you just might find something that helps.
Nature
- Go Venture
This is probably the simplest of them all that never fails to help me. Go the crap outside! I swear nature is one of the most healing things that there possibly is. Anytime I feel bad I love to just walk outside. Even if you just sit there for 10 minutes picking up clover it still helps.
Nature is always calming and soothing and it’s always in ways comforting. When outside just focus on what’s around you. Look at the beauty of everything and see what you can hear whether it’s a breeze or birds chirping. Just sit there and enjoy it. Every time with no avail, nature has made me feel better and relaxed even if it’s only while I’m there.
